enjoy the privlage in
answering your letter
which came to hand
yesterday I was verry
glad to hear that you
all was well, but
I am sorry to
hear of so many death
but they have got
to die there as well
the souldiers well
George I haven't any
thing new to tell you
our Calvry has had a
nother fight with old
Marmaduke a bout
three days ago,
the Rebs had three
to our one and then
got cleaned out, the
1st Ind Calvry 5 Kansas
was all the ones that was
in it, they wer at
pine Bluff a bout " 60 "
miles south of here, and
the Rebs had them sur-
rounded but they cut
there way through and
drove them and still
holds the place but
the Rebs burnt the town
up well George I
expect that there is a
good deal of change in
the neighbor hood since
I left so many dying
and Marring and move-
ing a round from one
place to nother
George is you crops
at home get dam-
age mutch, I expect it
has spoilt all the sugar
cane, is you crops verry
heavy this year or not
you never write how
they are nor how much
you have got in
It does me rite smart
good so to hear how
the thing is all a
getting a long

been well for some
time I have had the
Cronie Diaorea, I haven't
been to say sick nor well
I have been a bout half
way George when you
write tell me how many
hogs you got and how
many you are a going to
fatten and how your fall whet
is a growing and how many
apples you are going to hole up
I feel interrested in it for apples
sells for 10 cts a peace what little does
come in but I havt seen one for
three months what you get here
you will have to pay for It
chickens is only 75 cts a peace butter
and chees 50 cts lbs potatoes $2.15 so a bushl
onions 15 cts lbs but hard tacks sow belly
plenty well I have wrote enough
for the present so I will to you
