Dear Brother I Seat myself
down for the purpose of write
ing you a few lines all though
I have written to you Some
time a go but never received
no answer. for fear you didant
get it I will write to you
a gain well john I am glad
to Say that I am well to
day and enjoying the
Comforts of a Soldiers life
I have rather a better times
here than we have had Since
we have been out of Old Ind.
I have got to be a Cannonier
in the Siege Battery and we
have been in to action three or
four times with them but
ever thing is quiet here now
well john I think Rebeldom
is bout plaid out Sence the
fall of vickburg and Port Hendy
son the Citnscens of Franklin
wish that the South would lay
down their Arms and come back in
to the union I Suppose you
have herd the Capture of John
Morgan it was the best thing
ever was dun when he went
threw Indiana and Ohio it
waken up Some of those Butternut
back there also Saved his Baken
well john the 85th Reg is
at Murfreesboro I got a Letter
from home it Stated they was
well I have read a Letter from
Madson Nolan they are all
well he Said they have pretty
good times there he Says he
has got to be a Town Servent
I will tell you a patroll guards
Lieu Wellman is at home
he went home on a sick furlow
well john I hope we will get
to go home Soon if we Succeed
as well as we have done while
back the Rebs is pretty well
drove out of Tennessee well
john I guess it is verry hot
where you are for it is hot
enuf here to roast a Squash
well I guess I have written all
particulers I will bring my
Letter to a close hopeing to
hear from you Soon give my
best respets to uncle James
and George Foncannon and
all the rest of the boys
also to your Self I hope
