December 23rd 1862
Dear brother I
take the opportunity
to write you a
few lines to let
you know that we are
all well at present, and
hope when these few lines
reaches you will find you
enjoying the Same blessing
I received your last letter
on the 8th of November
you must excuse
me for not writing Sooner
I have been going to School
James Anderson is our teacher
but there is no School this
week we heard that John
Anderson was dead and
I Supose James Anderson
or William Bales has gone
after him I heard that
he was taken sick while
they were on the march.
but I donít know where
they were marching to.
I suppose you have heard of
the death of old Phillip
Jones he died a month
a go his Sale goes off to
morrow. Harry Amerman
has Come home a gain to
take business with us. but
I don't know of any thing that
going on for times are dry
and roads are mudy ñ well
I guess I have nothing more
to write you must write
Soon excuse my bad
writing for my pen and
ink boath are no count.
My love is for all those
that go to defend their
Country So no more
